Ocean Grove is a small beach town located in New Jersey, and is home to a range of different religious congregations. This includes the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, and the First Presbyterian Church. All three churches are housed beautifully within stunning traditionally designed buildings that date back to the 19th century, and provide services for both local residents and visitors alike. The Pilgrim Baptist Church was built in 1883, and is the oldest African-American congregation in New Jersey. It offers regular worship services as well as Bible study classes for all ages. The Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church is known for its unique Victorian Gothic architectural style that was created by architect Frederick Clarke Withers. The church offers Sunday school programs, vacation Bible school programs, youth groups and other community activities throughout the year. The First Presbyterian Church also dates back to the 19th century with construction finishing in 1873. It has since been renovated several times but still holds a firm place within Ocean Grove’s history as it continues to host numerous events such as concerts and art shows throughout the year.
